I've done countless other builds with pre emission motors. But this is my first with a computer controlled carb currently on the 305. But hopefully the fuel injection is pain less and is as advertised easy set up efi... and being able to do it gets to me because of all the different wires and ports and relay this and relay that.... So im in for it but a 350 bored 30 over hot cam and efi and msd sounds good to me. should get close to 400 hp maby?? idk....Kinda winging it....

cost to have your 700r4 built will probly be less than cost to install 6spd. mine from patc is built to handle 600hp, currently putting out about 400. cost was in the 3k range, thats for trans with no core so i still have my old one. im sure you could get yours built for less.

I'm curious, are you getting a used engine so you need to bore it or do you plan on boring a new block? If the former, then OK. If the latter, unless you're building a 383, why would you bore a perfectly fine block ?

Below is the description I found for the affordable EFI system, it does not sound like its going to work for a 400 hp build. They sell a MPFI system but it is closer to $3000.

Basicly this is a TBI system off a 80's 350. It will be very limited in both Air and fuel volume and it will not be tune-able. It is not the kind of system you want on a 400 hp build. You would be lucky to get 275 hp worth of fuel through that system. Without tuning any non-stock cam will send that compute into fits. It is expecting to see nice smooth vacuum. You will not get that with a loopy cam. This vacuum issue is the main reason it took a decade+ for hot rodders to switch over to EFI.

"Pictured is a TBI complete system for a 2bbl Chevy V8. Some of the components shown above may look different from what will be included with your kit. The complete TBI system comes with all components needed for a closed loop system except for air cleaner, throttle cable/linkage, and fuel lines. THESE SYSTEMS ARE INTENDED FOR STOCK OR SLIGHTLY MODIFIED ENGINES ONLY. PLEASE CALL FOR MODIFIED ENGINE APPLICATIONS."

KMJ performance a new up an comeing place for parts has a kit 650 hp kit ,$1650.00 with everything but the intake, some are made to go on almost any intake that has a 4 barrel carb ,so I think you can do better ,an that kit is 30226 on ebay ,jegs an places have sales on these things they go like very fast though but the deals are out there MSd makes plug an play type to $2100i can se where if your dad is getting Discounts for the price you talked about but I would add another 2000,00 just because,i seen one with the intake $2300.00 could go on my car rated 525hp ,but I wanted a carb ,couse there so easy to work on for now .mabey one day another engine set up for me ,the pro stock cars now run on efi so they could move the hood scoops down low on the car to see but they been running at about 50 hp less as they work on fine tuneing the efi on them ,my friend is going to take out the CAL emissions plate he calls it will give me another 15 hp with my elelbrock

Fast Stuff is good, self teach works so much better then the pre-tuned units but can take a little time. I don't think his discount would apply to ebay stuff
