The air tube is the small tubes welded to the header tubes and a diverter valve goes on it and then the air pump hose. If you dont need the air pump for emissions you could get less expensive headers with out the tubes and remove the pump and plug the tube that comes from the cat.

The air tube is a retarded piece of a retarded emmissions system that puts fresh air into the exhaust to boost ratings without actually lowering emissions.

They are most commonly found in the foreign land of California, these days, and there's a good chance that you don't need it in Chicagoland, even if the car does have to pass emissions.

Hey, look now. I never said the 49 states here in the US were any better, I plan to move to Bavaria and get a job as an electronic/electrical tech on Beamers if I have the money when I'm older. Not that I'll ever stop driving American Muscle, since that's one thing the US does exceedingly well with, but Germany is nicer, and BMWs make alot of money for repair work.
