will this work?
i might get a 327 sbc and it has a 289 crank in it and the bore is 4" and the stroke is 3" so im sure it might be a 302 motor. i have a 350 crank and if i get this motor i wana put the 350 crank in it and it should make it a 350 ci motor right? i just wanna know if this crank can clear everything and i wont have a problem with the crank hitting the block. will this work?
I believe the 350 crank will fit in a 327... but... WHY would you want to do that???? dude, a 302 is an awesome motor, don't buy one and then change it! Go find a 350 and build that. I swear if you buy a 302 and ruin it I'll find you and kill you.
Chevy made a 283 not the 289... if it does have the 283 crank in it the 350 crank will not be a direct swap because the journal sizes will be different(unless spacer bearings were used). It does make some sense that the 283 crank(small journal) is in the 327 because the 327 was made with the small and medium journal sizes the early 327 was the small and the later was the medium. Check the casting number I think that will tell you what you have. I believe the 302 also was made in the small and medium journal.
