Okay, I own a 91 Camaro RS and ive had it for about 2 weeks, it runs good but i've noticed it runs about 220 temperature wise.To cool it downI put the heater on and roll down the windows to bring it down to about 180-190, and I would like to know if 220 is normal or ifI should have anything checked?

 

most i have seen run 210 with a stock t-stat. so yeah you are alittle on the high side , but that could be a temp sending unit or gauge inaccuracy. check the condition and level of your coolant, you may a touch low on coolant or it may new the cooling system flush and filled with the proper coolant mixture.

 

no matter the t-stat temp, the fans dont turn on until around 225. this was designed by gm as a hotter engine burns cleaner, and gm was obsessed about emissions with these cars. you can buy an adjustable temp switch, or just put one on there yourself for easy on/off

 

stock fan turn on is 238*, the cars do run hot, im getting a 170* tstat and a lower fan switch

 

Abyliks, did you buy the auburnposi differentialwith the 3.73s already in it?

 

The stock thermostat won't open completely untill about 220, but under normal conditions in a moderate, or cold climate, they don't have to open completely. Chances are that you just need to flush and refill the cooling system. If the problem still persists, check the operation of your coolant tempriture sending unit, and replace it if needed. You might also want to go ahead and test that thermostat to see if it's opening when it should.
