Default what octane?

i have and 89 camaro with the tpi 350 engine. my dad has an 87 vette with the same 350tpi engine. he has always used premium 93 octane gas so when i recently got my camaro i used the same gas. i was just woundering what type of gas you run with what type ofengine that all of you on the forum use. and because of current gas prices (and im still in high school so LOW INCOME) i was woundering if i can run a lower grade gas like 90 plus without damaging the engine. any help appreciated thanks

Well it depends on what you have done to the engine. With ours beefed up we run 91 (altitude) all the time. I don't think running slightly lower will affect it all that much but I wouldn't want to find out either. Stick with the 93 because rumor has it that prices will probably come down anyway.

Owners manual recommends 93+ when new. However if you don't care about the car run what you want. Possible damage from knocking if real cheap gas is used over a period of time. If you can't afford the gas don't drive the car.

depends if you have exhaust and intake/head work,is it a h/o or stock, cuz corvette motors and the camaro motors are different internal parts, unless its after market, but if its stock and nothing done you should run regular gas cuz to high of octane will cause your injection to dump lean cuz the combustion and will mess up your cat,if its modded than no less than 91,i might be wrong but thats what someone told me before cuz i was acutaly hurting my motor with to high of octane
