Default which tranny is best

ok my name is big john me an my friend are restoring his 86 z28 , this is a complete rebuild no wireing, no interior, no motor or trans
The question im asking which transmission would be better in his car ,

a th350 out of a 84 silverado , or a 700r4 out his donor 88 ,

is there any computer bs with the 700r4 becuase it did come with a tbi 305 ?

im just asking cuss we want the quickest transmission on 0-60 bolted up 2 a 383 stroker with elderborck highrise intake an demon carb , high energy comp cam , note this 350 block came out of the same silverado , im not 100% sure it will bolt up right ,

an where can i get some cheap headers for the 86 z28 ?

any body got the ground affects with the slit carved in to them they wanna get rid of ?

i got lots of questions wont bomb ya out just yet .

thanks guys

the th350 would probably be fine. As far as putting in a 350 out of a suburban thats gonna be a *****. Your gonna need a post 86 350 for it to drop right in and I dont know if anything but the TPI 350's will bolt right up... Good luck

the th350 is a good tranny to use, however is severely limited in the higer speeds due to only being a 3 speed transmission, expect nothing over about 120 mph. the turbo 700r4 has a severe drop in rpm from a 1st to second gear shift, but with a 383 this shouldn't be a severe problem. also a major problem with the turbo700r4 is that it won't shift into overdrive at full throttle, this was later solved when chevy made the 4L60, which of all the trannies to go for, if you can find one cheap, is the one i would suggest.
