Tranny ?

Tranny ?
I know nothing about transmissions so im hoping someone can help me. I have a 1990 suburban with a gm performance parts 350 with only 5000 miles on it in my yard. If i was to swap it into my 3rd gen, would it be better to use my tranny from the 305 camaro or the suburban tranny?

RE: Tranny ?
We put our 1979 Chevy Suburban 350 AND transmission into our 1983 Camaro. It worked, but we did have to have the Camaro driveline shortened a bit. Sorry I don't know what type of tranny we had in our Suburban, but I can tell you that it only cost $58 to have a Seattle area company shorten the Camaro driveline. It was cost effective for us. Our old Camaro engine was a 2.8L V6, so the tranny wouldn't have fit the 350 anyway.

the valve body in the 700R in the camaro is going to have a higher shift point (if it the camaro is TPI). you will also have to see if the speedo is mechanical or electric on both. youmay have to change the tail housing. also if the camaro is a 86 or older the 700r in them has a very weak input shaft. if that is the case go with the 90 700R and not the 86 down.

RE: Tranny ?
The 92 camaro is a tbi 305 with a 700r4 and the 90 suburban is a gm performance parts tbi350 with the stock suburban tranny and i dont know what kind it is and i was tryin to see if it would be easier to pull the engine and tranny attached or seperated. because the front end of the camaro is apart anyways. thanks
i dont know why the writing is so big. sorry.
