Default System causing my car to overhear?

I have recently put a system in my car(2-12's) in my 92 rs. The system is pushing somewhere around 1,600 watts. Without the system on the engine temp is around 160. Then when my system is on the temp bumps up to around 220. The alternator is very small i am not exact what size it is. Do i need to upgrade my alternator to a bigger one?

Default RE: System causing my car to overhear?

Hope you realize you need an alternator of around 140 amps just to handle your system load. IMO the electrical system is being overloaded and when the fan is needed to cool the engine there is not enough voltage to allow the fan to run at the proper speed.

You can always take the speakers and aim them at the radiator, and turn the bass and volume up. This should move enough air through the radiator to cool down the engine.
