I`ve just put a set of oem y2k wheels on my 99 camaro z28. The tyre pressure is 30 psi all round.

Since putting them on the steering feels very twitchy and is affected by every bump. Its made it quite hard to drive.

What could be causing this?

 

better have a look around the wheels and see if anything is rubbing or hitting anywhere. what tire size on it before and tire size now.

 

I can hear that a rear tyre on one side rubs slightly on a hard corner or hard bump. Need to do the BFH mod to inner fender. The wheels and tyres were stock before, now I`ve got 245/45/17 and 275/40/18.

 

your tierod ends may need changed, if they get worn and lose a wider tire will cause them to jerk at every bump. yep bfh should help. is the car lowered?

 

Ok I`ll check them. The cars not lowered...yet.

 

Just for fun....recheck the torque on your lug nuts.
You should do that as standard practice when removing and reinstalling wheels.
Put them on, take the car around the block, then recheck the nuts.

 

Also see about jacking the front of the car and rotating the front tires to see if they wobble or rotate out of whack; Rim could be damaged or out of round

245 45 17 that's SEVENTEEN and 275 40 17 again, SEVENTEEN are almost the same tire height

If you really are running 245 45 17s and 275 40 18's then you are an inch higher in the rear

was that your intent?

 

Erm not really my intent. Why do you see a red flag? It wont affect the handling will it? I bought them used with that combo of wheels and tyres.

 

1: you won't be doing any rotating of the tires
2: the rear tire height is taller than stock so your speedometer is affected and your gear ratio got taller by a wee bit
