stuck in park?

i picked up an 84 trans-am for parts-now i want to use it for a driver and paint my camaro..anyway i changed the plugs etc, for a tune up now i cant get it out of park---i drove it here last week?? can any one help??what could have happened?

no idea what happened. try just pushing the car back and forth a bit then getting it outta park again.. thats strange

Ive had that problem before in my old car (is was a ford) anyways take a look at that little button you push to change gears that might have gotten stuck or something and if all else fails pull the ebrake and put the car in gear from the trans it self *NOTE*( Its a bad idea and only do it as a last resort so dont come at me if you run yourself over!)

shouldnt there be a switch on the brake pedal for the shifter to move into park or reverse? newer cars have that, but i dont know about the older cars.

Do you hear a click from the shifter when you press on the brake? If not find that switch and check it
