Hi there I was driving the car around today and stop. I put it park and tried to take the key out and it would not come out. Then I started it back up and tried to back it up but it would not go in rev. It seems it will not go into park either. It is the powerglide autotrans. The swifter on the floor seems like it is not engageing those gears. Any help would be great. It seems like one thing after another. I am thinking neutral switch that is on the steering column but I am not sure. Thanks again!!

 

My car did the same thing it wouldnt go in park or to any gear. I thought the same thing until my shifter cable broke on me I would bet that your shifter cable is going bad. check the shifter cable

 

I did diconnect the the rod running from the trans to the steering column under the hood and moved the connector on the column up and I was able to get the key out. I did notice that nut on the rod running to the trans seems loose.
