Trans Help
Back to same problem. I have the 350 trans. There is cable running to the trans to the carb and it looks new. The shifter in the car does not seem to go in park I did get it in rev. Also the shift indicator in the dash seems not work right. I am thinking I need to adjust the shift derent on the carb or is there another cable running under the car at the trans. to connecting rods. Thanks for the help. I need to get driving again. Also does anyone have suggestions on the best placement for jack stands on a this car or are the ramps best THANKS AGAIN !!HAPPY HOILDAYS!!!
You need to adjust the shifter linkage first, and then adjust the TV cable. (the cable from the transmission to the carb, not the cable you use to watch ball games. LOL) Adjustment of the TV cable is critical for longevity of the clutches and bands, and for proper shift points.
Furr, your car DOES NOT have a TV cable. The TV (throttle valve) cable set-up would be if you hada 700-R4, 4L60, 4L60EO/D trans. It's function is to control the trans line pressure, shift points, shift feel, and downshifts.
Your T350 is totally different and up-shift points are controlled by a vacuum linefrom the engineto the vacuum modulator on the passenger side of the trans. The cable you have from the carb to the trans is your kickdown (downshift) linkage. You also have a separate shiftercable/linkage which connects from the shifter to the linkage arm on the drivers side of the trans. From your other post, it sounds like something in your linkageis messed up. Do you have a column shifter or a floor shifter? I think you need to get under the car and have someone else move the shifter so you can see what is going on...or coming off!
If you have good sturdy ramps, that should be fine. Just make sure you aren't on a hill and have the rear wheels blocked well since you will be taking it out of park.

i had this problem with a b + m shifter in a street stock.
we adjusted it serveral times, it was just a nightmare, i expecially hated the lift lock
needless to say, i tossed it out in favor of a steel rod again
