Stock V6 swap with a 350?
I'm sure this has been asked tons of times, but how hard is it to swap a stock 2.8V6 engine with a 350? Does it line up fine, or will I need some motor mounts? will I need a new tranny or can it run with a stock 5spd?
About how many miles per gallon do you get with a 350 engine?

well the mous will line up but you will have to get the v8 motor mounts but they will fit in the stock position just a different weight rating. as far as the tranny goes the v6 tranny will not line up with the motor you will have to get a tranny made for a v8. also you might consider getting different front springs i went to the part store and asked for the same year as my car but the v8 model springs. once again because of the weight. as far as the wiring goes i dont know what your getting the 350 from so i couldnt tell you exactly but let me know what its out of and what your running with it and i can tell ya for sure.
gas mileage depends on what kind of 350 you put in, and how heavy of a lead foot you are. Keep the RPM's low and stay out of the throttle and youll do alright. i get about 12 city, and amazeingly enough 25 or so highway with that 5 speed.
i believe the tranny will work, but youll need a new bellhousing for a SBC

if you have an interchangeable bell housing it will work but otherwise youll have to find a tranny to hookup to the v8 not sure on the five speeds exactly how they are setup but my auto 700r4 is a single unit and i had to do a tranny swap. now i have heard about transmission adapter plates for swaps like this but i wouldnt trust on for high performance apps if your gonna put some power on it. i almost forgot my rearend fried out on mine too after a week they are not built for big torque and power. mine only had 45k on it when i did the swap also. swapped in a 305 bored to a 327 with a 400 stroker crank new cam edelbrock heads and components with edelbrock high rise intake with 850cfm edelbrock carb. got on it the first time after breakin and fried the rear out big time. broken c clips fried gears. upgraded to detroit locker with 373 gears the ***** pulled fronts 3 feet off the ground with stock size fuzion radials on the rears and an slp rear suspension kit and torque arm bar. ran an 11.1 at cordova raceway this summer all motor. next upgrade is going to be nitrous but never really messed with it too much so im shootin in the dark on this one
