your one of hundereds wanting 300+ horse out of their 305. Its possible, many people have it, but its a bit more difficult than with a 350.
First thing you need to ask is how much you wanting to spend?
THEN ask how devoted are you to keeping that 305?

Well yea it all depends on money, time, and your personal abilities. When i say money well you could spend 3 grand on a new 300+hp 350 engine(if uchoose new, i would)plus about 500-1000 on a mechanic to swap it in. And when i say time you could over time build-up the 305(what im doing), and when i say personal abilities i mean how much can u do yourself. So to some it up if you want to go with a 350 your looking at a decently big price. It's good your already runnin' a full exhaust that puts at a little over 200 hp now.
but if you choose the route of beefing up the 305 you could do the following: world products torquer s/r heads (good for 30-40hp, about $800), comp cams xtreme energy hydralic flat tappet cam(good for about 10-20hp, $125/costs over 500 tho for installation), you'd need to get an upgraded chip if you do a cam(mayb small horsepower increase, still a must with cam), edelbrock performer tbi intake(i've heard mixed thing about this maybe an increase of 10-20hp, $230). -OR- you could go with vortec style heads (give u more hp, but a bit more expensive and you'd need the vortec intake)--as far as bolt-ons for the 305 thats about it. And you could always thro a shift kit on their, and mayb some high ratio gears (3.42 or 3.73), and a torque converter(with 3000 stall) all of those would greatly increase acceleration and launch u out of a dig. And some suspension mods to put more hp to the ground (sub-frame connectors, etc) Hope that helps the above is what i plan to have done in about 2 yrs. Im ahigh school kid with a low income lol.
