Default ignition switch problems

i have a question. i have a 1989 rs camaro and my ignition tumbler will not go any further than the on position. which lead me to believe my ignition switch is messed up and the rods are not pushing on the switch. now knowing that what is the easiest way to to fix that problem?

thank you for your help.

Replace the switch.
The start position may be worn or burned out. The switch may have moved. Can you turn the key back to its accessory position? You can lower the column by taking off the nuts and let it drop some. They you can see or feel the rod as it works.
