Default Ignition switch

My son has a 1971 camaro. The ignition switch needs to be replaced and is located on the steering column. He does not know how to remove the switch does anyone know how to do this?

i think you would have to remove the plastic or metal steering column and under there you should have better access to the ignition swtich. i know that is kindof vague, and i apologize, but i unfortauntely dont have a 71 camaro [&o]

Default RE: Ignition switch

If it is like many other chevy's there should be a small key hole to release the ignition switch, some require a paper clip, others something bigger like a screwdriver that releases the whole switch mechanism, consequently it makes these cars very easy to lift.
