I need help w/ fuel pump issue
alright, this morning, my fuel pump wouldnt turn on. i always hear it hum before i try to start it. well, it didnt do that this morning, so my car wouldnt start. i sent power through port G on the ALDL, and i can hear the relay clicking. after a bit of doing that, the pump eventually turned on. i got to school and back home with no problems. however, when i went to back the car onto the ramps, the pump wouldnt turn on (but i could still hear the relay click). i inspected the plug and determined that wasnt the problem. if the relay is clicking, that cant be the problem, right?
my most serious issue is actually taking the tank out. i have a 1/4 tank of gas in it still, but my exhaust is welded in. all i have to cut it is two different kinds of hacksaws and a jigsaw. i dont have a muffler under it, just a pipe that took its place.
what else has to be removed to drop the tank? im guessing the panhard bar needs to come off too?

Just because the relay is clicking does not mean that it is working properly. The relay contacts could be burned out. Better to try a new $10 relay first than pulling down a gas tank for the wrong reason.

i didnt have the time to fool around with the relay because it was inconsistant. and the fuel pump is original, so its on borrowed time anyway. i already got everything out except the shocks, fuel lines, and a the tank itself. the pump was only $60, so i figured id get it anyway. tomarrow im gonna pick up some shocks and replace mine while im at it.

ive gotten the tank downward and everything is out up to the float. i cant get the float to come out because of the angle. any advice? im going to try and heat up the exhaust in front of the cat and pull it off (everything is welded after the cat). hopefully i can get it all to come out.
