Default LT1 Fuel Pump Issue...

Hi guys,

I'm new to this forum! I want to say off hand that I did search the FAQ/DIY but have not SEARCHED the forum since search functions really suck on all forums.

I used to have a 97 SS before my current car, and my dad still has a 97 Z28. I know of most of the issues common with this car because of my previous experience working on my own car, but since I've been away from forums for so long I must request the hivemind for some advice on where to purchase a good quality (and cheap!) fuel pump. I've seen some on O'Reillys for $60, but I'm 90% sure the flow is not nearly high enough for the car. I'd really appreciate it if you guys could point me in the right direction on where to purchase a replacement.

Thanks!
Ike

im using a granatelli 255 i got from summit, i took the stock pump apart and put the new pump in and welded the case back together using a plastic welder. seems to be working ok. what brand name are you seeing for 60 bucks. im thinking you will be replacing it in a short time. better use the hatch method.

We're definitely going with the cut a hole under the hatch method. I don't really want to be dropping the rear end and tank anytime soon, or ever. Do you mind telling me what price you paid for yours? The $60 is "universal fittment fuel pump" that claims it will work with the LT1, I highly doubted that it would when I saw the specs..

Thanks for the help, anyone else have any good vendor stories?

In the other forums I spend time on, there is a good list of vendors "with good customer service" listings from members.. Perhaps this forum could use one as well, it'd really help out the vendors that put out good customer service too!

Thanks Craby, I just checked all the sites. It appears that I'm going to be going with the 255LPH Granatelli pump from either Jegs or Summit (same price!!).
