Default I need an Edelbrock Carb expert.....

Im running an Edelbrock 600 on my new 350. Im having two issues.

1) Vapor lock. (the fuel line is almost touching my header)...No big deal here, Ill relocate the line.

2) When I shut the car off and then try to restart it (say after getting gas) I have to hold her WIDE OPEN to get it to start again, and takes about 5 seconds of cranking. Now, this much I know....the choke is fully open. Not a choke problem. The mixture screws are opened about 3-4 turns. Im running about 8 degrees of initial timing.

You guys got any suggestions as how to fix this PITA?

Float level is not set correctly, these carbs are actually a Carter carb with Edelbrock on them so I am told. Notorious for floats not set correctly.

id be interested to know myself. we have an edelbrock, never had any problems with it at all, its a 600 performer series, electric choke. Biggest problem we have is decideing which springs and jets to put in. We change them a lot depending on the application, towing the boat, more power, just driving around, less power. Takes about 5 min to do the change, its very nice.

if you want my opinion, get a holley. the edelbrock name is great but with carbs their not all that, you need to get a fuel regulator cuz the pump is too much for it, and normally all you can do on those things is adjust the idle.
