Default Hatch sticking out!!

I have a 91 RS camaro. The hatch sticks out a good 1/2 from where its supposed to be. I saw the tech article on how to align it but it doesn't make much sence. I went and took off the nuts and it doesn't have no room for adjustment. The only thing i can think of now is taking the hatch off and maybe its where the glass attaches to the body. So i tried to turn and the whole thing turns. Seems like a very poor design by chevy. Does anyone know how to take those off. If anyone that had the same problem taken them off tell me how they did it it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I never bother with it becaues the hatches have been sticking out a bit since the 1982 models.

you can unbolt the hinges from the body ... remove the hatch and redrill the holes and adjust it that way. i have changed a couple and have found the hinges and holes to be slightly different from model to model. i replaced the hatch on my 85 IROC with one from an 85 sport coupe and the hinges and holes would'nt match so i redrilled and got a perfect fit. same here slick I had to take the hatch off and redrill holes so that the fit is close to perfect now. Btw if u have never looked in to the glass to back peice don't even think of taking it off it will be a pain in the @ss

Thanks everyone for the info. im not going that route then with the back piece. Yeah it sticks out pretty good though. its even causing it to not align with the pull down motor.
