Default Hatch Leaking

Everytime i open the trunk/hatch on my camaro the damn thing pisses water on the inside of my car (last time all over my amp)

Now i know "replace the seal n00b" but my question is.. whats the best way to do this. SHould i calk the seam then put new seal in it....because from what i have heard its a common thing to have to replace the seal on the hatch's on camaros.

So should i calk then seal or just seal?

And whats the best way to get the old seal out...its in there pretty good between the backwindow and the trunk....should i take off that metal bottom frame?
