Default fuel pressure regulator

alright, my car was being an *** the other day, spitting out raw fuel, black smoke, etc. i know its not ignition as it would rev freely. my mechanic told me it was the fuel pressure regulator. i got the rebuild kit, however, i cant get mine out. the passenger front bolt on the fuel rail is stripped somewhat, and my wrenches wont stay on it. is there anyway to rebuild the pressure regulator without taking it out of the engine? oh, and today it ran fine, i went up and down the road with no problems. i need to get this done asap as its my daily driver and ive missed enough school already this year because of this car

Before you try to work on fuel pressure regulator try replacing the fuel filter. Also for your info you will need a special torx socket with clearnace for a raised pin in the mounting bolts. A special feature by GM to prevent tampering with the regulator.

I don't think you can. If I remember, once you remove the bolts the whole top hat l comes off as one piece. Iwould forget about fixing it, I would just by a new adjustable one.

well, i got it all repaired, and it has a somewhat different feel to it, namely a minute amount of throttle response. there was a lot of crap on the old rubber boot that probably caused the pressure.

Another inexpensive Item, I would check into one. It hooks up to the schrader valve. Myself I installed a gage under the hood to monitor the fuel pressure mounted on the passenger side fender.

Those are SLP runners, and I will have to check on your question about the belt.
