Default Engine Swap

I have a 1985 Camaro Berlinetta. It's got just about every extra option available for 1985. Including the 305 5.0, 4 barrel carb and 700R4 Automatic. The body isn't all that great, it's got some dents. No rust on the car at all, and a mint interior and 85,000 original miles. I recently found a 1986 Camaro (Base Model) with mint body condition, for only $600 (everything works and car runs) but it has the V-6 With fuel injection (126,000 miles). I want to know if it would be possible to swap my 305 Carbureted engine with the V-6 Fuel injected one, and just use the '86. Maybe even swap the Tranny as well. Will the F.I. and Carb difference make a problem? Does anyone know if this will work? And if so, what kind of a project am I looking at? (Time wise, money wise, and is it worth it?)

Default RE: Engine Swap

You will have to swap the tranny with the motor. The V6 is 60 egree design where the V8 is a 90. The bell house is different. The fuel injection will have an electric pump in the tank. You might want to swap that and fuel lines to keep every thing in the right place and no additional cost for modifying. I bought a wrecked 84 in 97 with 56,000 or so miles. It was wrecked bad enough I found an empty shell from an 86 V6 and swapped all my stuff into it. An I mean everything. Sheet metal, interior, engine, suspention,.... And the swap only cost me $300, the price of the shell.

Will I be able to just take out the old tranny, and put in my 700R4 and my 305? And If so, would it be ok if I left the old pump and fuel lines? Or could I just change something in the computer to make it work just right.

I suppose you could use the pump and just modify the fuel lines. And yes you can swap the trans and motor.
