Default Engine ID

I have an 84 that used to be a V-6 173ci. Now its has a 350 4 barrel carb. I know the engine is from 1995, I just don't know what vehicle. All i can see when i open the hood is the firing order on the engine.

Side problem, none of my gauges work. I think due to the engine swap. And i believe the car computer was taken out also. So, Ive been told the only way for me to go is aftermarket gauges... correct? Plus i dont konw how the speedo will hook up to the tranny, if the tranny was meant for electronic gaugues. because wioth carborated cars i think the gauges are pressure orientaed. Please gimme any info you can and lemme know if i am way off in some areas. thanks. -mike

You can find the engine casting number on the driver side to the rear of the valve cover. Look in the 1st gen section, at the top is a sticky about locating numbers and stuff.

Go to the 3rd gen section for the questions about the motor and all that.

Welcome to the forums btw.
