Is it a Ford 9inch rear or a GM 12 bolt? Is it a t-top car? You will tear the body at the t-top and kink the rear quarters without welded in sub frame connectors and upgrade rear control arms I would re-enforce the control are frame area with some plates just to be sure I did not damage the body. Once that body twists you will never get the T-tops to seal.
If it is really 550 HP I would suggest a full cage plus frame connector. That is what the track is going to want to see. Check you local race track for requirment. Many track require a full cage on anything under 12 seconds. Some do 11.5 seconds. At 550HP you should close to the 11.5

Hey folks thanks for taking the time to help me out.

Maybe a little more heavy duty steel, What do you think of that?

In that image 1 is a thick piece of flat steel and 2 is a piece on the inside and the back, my idea is to box it in. when you say re-enforce control area is that what you mean?
i'am using a Stock 7.5 10bolt... I don't know if i should build the 10 bolt. Money is a big issue here its holding me back from getting the right rear end.
I have the motor and a built up transmission (Th400).
Chevy 400 - Level 3 Transmission kit from - Gearstar.net
The car has no T-tops.
"full cage plus frame connector." ( Never made a cage before.)
Do i connect the cage to the subframe In rear? I'am a little confused on what i weld the cage to, I want a 4 point cage. Behind the seat, i plan to drive on the street sometimes and i hear its bad to put a cage that goes past the seats cause your head could hit the cage in a accident. (Resulting in brain-damage or death.)
I'am a mechanic at tires plus i never made a race car before or any performance cars. I have great fab skills by the way.
This is my engine setup:
383 stroker kit from scat all forge steel internals
Wiseco -4cc forge pistons
AFR 190cc, 2.02/1.60 in. valves
Edelbrock RPM intake
Holly 750 double pumper
comp cams hydro roller 236/245 @.50 dur, 560/575 lift
1.6 roller rockers
10.4:1 (estimated)
3000 stall
And for the strip 100/150hp shot Edelbrock system
So i estimate 500-550hp NA and 600-700 with the No2.

let's set aside what your engine will actually put out N/A as wellas sprayed.
Let's assume that you do have 650 FWHP then you had best check the track rules for a vehicle which runs deep into the 10's.
oh, a carb'd 383 which has an honest to gosh 550 FWHP is not a street friendly vehicle.
