Do you think this camaro is a good deal?
1987 iroc camaro .. do you guys think that would be a good deal. and do you think its the iroc z or just z28? thanks

It's got Z28 interior, but it does have a 350 tuned port motor, and rear disc brakes. price is average, but I would try to find out why it wasn't driven much since the new engine was put in. sounds like there could be some issues.

Check the VIN- 8th digit should be an 8 if it is a 350. If it's anything else, he's either swapped in a 350 (and should show you the receipts proving it) or it's a 305.
And check the RPO codes in the center console. You're looking for B4Z to prove it's an IROC.
If it's both, and it has no running or driving issues, then yes I'd say it's a good deal. I paid $9000 for mine 5 years ago, and it was just a 305, then.

shock towers rot, driver side floor rot are 2 big things to look for. rusted out fuel lines, brake lines.

Yeah, exactly. I've seen this happen a lot. a guy puts a motor in a car and can't get the thing running right ,or has issues and doesn't know what to do so he tries to unload it. So he'll be like. "it's got a new engine, but does this, or sometimes does this, or just needs to be tuned." Just watch yourself that's all.

for $3500 it should have better than a 20 foot paint job
for $3500 the seat belt guide better be re-installed on the driver's headrest
for $3500 the rug had best be pristine
for $3500 the A/C must work or assume new compressor, dryer, orifice and hoses done by a professional so offer that they fix it or reduce $850 from the price
for $3500 the windows should work flawlessly, the hatch work fine
for $3500 the headliner must be clean an no sags
for $3500 the sun visors should be clean and functional
for $3500 the locks should match and use one key
for $3500 the interior is tear free and no major signs of wear
for $3500 there is no wobble in the steering column
for $3500 the tires MUST have good tread. Nice rims get the seller absolutely NO RETURN on his investment (it was a personal choice)
do you notice that i could give a rats behind about the engine. Sellers of Camaros want to focus on "performance" but you must be weary of the "man behind the curtain" because interior is darn expensive as is painting. You can pull up to my house with a brand new LS7 under the hood but if the interior or exterior is lousy, I and others dub the vehicle a P.O.S.
who would want to ride around in it?
oh, Florida cars don't have the rust issues discussed. If that is of concern then spend $500 in transport and look for FL and Texas cars
I'd spend $500 extra for transport all day long to have a car which was in FL its entire life
