do the computers on 89 tpi go bad easily?

Default do the computers on 89 tpi go bad easily?

wats up guys i got my car together 5.7 tpi and its running ok. it has super low torque, wont spin the wheels, i got the timming right and everything is hooked up right (ive gone over everything a few times)before i took it apart to fix a oil leak behind the intake it was hallin ***.I changed 2 pushrods that were bent slightly and now i just cant get it back to were it was.the car has never been perfect but it was fast ive changed all the sensors on the motor all i can think of now is the computer.the car was parked for 5 years before i got it.Also somtimes it wont turn on until i spray starting fluid in the throtle then it turns on fine.when it dose that i cheked for spark,fuel pressure and its fine,it dose have a new fuel pump and gas filter........sorry its so long and boring but thanks for the help!!!!

Sounds like you have other problems then the ECM (computer). No moving parts and unless it was subject to some very harsh conditions it should continue to function.

I have seen this many times. Someone works on car and then it does not run or run as well as it did just before they worked on it and they blame the mystery problem on other systems they did not touch.
If it ran fine before you fixed your oil leak, go over your work again. Chances are you will find something you did wrong. The computer is not going to go bad while you are fixing a leak.

Being that you had bent pushrods, you may also have bent valves to go with them. Check the compression to see if the valves are sealing.
