Default Computer Swaping?

I have a 1987 trans am. My camaro is 1989. Both have the chevy 350 tpi same engine just differnt year engine. The engine in the trans am is 1984 and the engine in the camaro is 1986 remeber boththe same type just 2 years apart. Now I took both of the chips out of both of them and swapped them but I didnt start the trans am yet or the camaro. The camaro doesnt run anymore the engine is blown so Im taking bacially everything out of it. My question is the computer is new in the camaro, is it possible to swap the computer from the Camaro and put it into the trans am? Also if so are they tests I have to do?

Thanks everyone

I would think as long as both TPI systems are the same then yes. I think some TPI years did not use a MAF and there were few of them with an extra injector. Compare the two. If they look exactly the same then it should be fine.

Computer should have a model number on it. These model numbers where used like rev levels. Same model numbers it will work. Different model numbers it might work. You would want to keep the "proms" with the car so Camaro computer with Firebird prom (AKA chip).

Just going by memory Ithink there was a major upgrade in the computer systems in 89 maybe 90. If I am remembering right it a differnt system it might even have a different harness.
