every now and then when I go to start my 1991 z-28, thecomputer reads my key as not being the right one. the stupidantitheft system is messed up. someone told meabout a key bypass systemcan anyonetell mewhat part i would need to fix this problem.

The contacts on the pellet are probably worn out and making poor connection. Have a new key made up and it should solve your problem.
Measure the resistance across the pellet, then go on Ebay (search for VATS key) and buy a key blank with the same resitance for about $10. Once you got the blank, go to a locksmith and get the new key to match the old one, probably $5.

i had the same problem your having. just go to a locksmith and he will measure the ohms from the key there and he will make you a new key. it should run around 20-25 per key. thats what i payed down here in miami. if you want an orignal gm key just go to the dealer and pay like 35 for each.
