Default 89 rs sensors tbi

[align=left]I just got an '89 RS with a 305 TBI two weeks ago. I think that it might need a new IAC valve and a TPS. Is there anyway for me to test these before I buy new ones, and I also would like to know if I can get rid of the emissions crap and air pump?

Once You start pulling what you call emission crap will in most cases result in\ the TBI having less performance. If you don't know the function leave it alone. And what makes you think you need a TPS & IAC???

When I let the engine settle down to idle, it fluxuates between 1250-700 rpm. Also, if I hit the gas it boggs down and hesitates then goes. This happens whether I do it at idle, or start at 2000 rpm, or 3000 rpm. I put a new cap and rotor on and the only things that I can think of now is iac, tps, or the timing might be that off. Thank you.

There is a chance that if thoseitems were bad it would give you a code. If you have an autozone in your area you may be able to get a step by step printout of how to test those items since autozone markets alldata. I have had them do this for me before.

if you dont have the stock air cleaner on there that could be one of your problems as well. there is a sensor in that air cleaner that regulates the air flow in the tbi. if you dont have one or the sensor itself is bad then the bog in your motor is the cpu over compensating with fuel to try and even out the air flow
