Clutch
I think my clutch may be going on my 88. It's tough to get into gear, especially reverse. When I have the car in 1st with the clutch in and off the brake, the car will roll forward. So I'm guessing it's my clutch. Any suggestions on if I am correct and what would be the best clutch to get. It's a T-5 with a 5.0 TBI.
do a few tests first. it probably is the clutch going out but may not be. When this same thing happened to me i thought initially that my clutch was going out as well. But no, while getting ready to start replacing it, i looked at the bell houseing and noticed a gap between the housing and the block... bad news. that needs to be tight there. also, check the fluids, may be low and not allowing the clutch to fully disengage, causing it to pull and be difficult to shift. But if all visual inspections check out, you could try pulling off the check plate on the bottom of the houseing and look at the "fingers" comming of the plate. they should all be equal. if they are stickin out in different lengths, time for a new clutch. May as well do it all not just one part. and do it right. i wouldnt wanna have to do this twice because it was installed incorrectly.
as far as a good name, i dont know which ones have a good name or not.

i just had a zoom multifriction put in my car. It has all the holding power of a good high performance but without the harsh engagement or stiff pedal. However... there is a squeak matching whatever rpm its at, whenever im all the way off the pedal. ( no pressure applied). I still dont know what it is but the auto shop said it might be a throwout bearing but i refused to believe that they would send a faulty part with the kit. so i think it has something to do with the hydrolic system because whenever you get work done on your clutch you should bleed the system and they didnt do that so yeah :/
That sounds to me like a slave cylinder. Try bleeding it and see if there is any air in it.. If there is get it all out and if it comes back, replace it. Also as 350rs said, make sure your engine and transmission are bolted together solidly, because if not bad things will happen (much worse than a clutch...) Good luck.
