Default 82 83 crossfire?

I have a lady friend that I have know for a few years. her hubby died some time ago. she recently has money isssues and has offered to sell me an 82 or 83 firebird with what she calls cross fire. there are 2 carbs that look like the fuel is deliverd to the top and hiting a small disk to vaporize the fuel, then being sucked into the carb. the motor is blown, so I am just assuming at this point, I have not seen it run, but it does look sweet. anyone have any info on this setup? I am not even sure about the year except it is a 3rd gen. and will it work with my 84 computer?

Are you asking about the computer compatability because you are considering a motor swap? If so It should work, however the motor in question doesnt sound stock, if its blown that is. You might need to take all the wiring with it.

It's called Cross Fire Injection, it uses two throttle bodies, not carbs.

next time I look at the car I will take some pics, but they look like carbs to me ( funky carbs ) and not throttle bodies, but I could be wrong. I have never seen this type of setup on any GM, and I do car shows and swap meets almost every weekend. she did say it was bought from a dealer new and he had blown it up before he passed. it looks alot like the old tri carb setup from the 70s (454) but only with 2. anyway let me get a vin and some pics in a few days.

The cross fire set up started in the covettes and from what i have read they were nothing but trouble. The 82-84 are pretty much the same car so swaping parts should not be a problem, but if you live in a area that dose not require smog testing you have a lot more opitions
