Engine cranks but does not start
#12
It now sparks but it won't start because the timing is slightly off and it is backfiring out of the carb, and shooting flames.
How do i solve this?
I have a standard distibutor with the coil that sits on top of the distributor cap, and i have a 4 barrel quadrajet.

me and my friend have tried turning the distributor multiple times both ways, the plugs are in right, just checked them. So now i am going to rebuild the carb see if something is clogged or stuck and clean out the fuel lines.

^ That's what craby was hinting at. The distributor may have been put in at tdc #1, but not on the compression stroke.
It's quite possible that it's out 180 degrees.
How to find tdc #1 cylinder compression stroke, & wiring sequence: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ixfD...eature=related
