Default TH350 Dipstick

Hi, just looking for some experienced advice on TH350 dipsticks for the second generation F-Body. I ordered one of those "universal fit" parts and it seems to have 2 problems - the dog-leg bends in it aren't enough to clear the firewall cut-out, and when I jacked up the tailstock to get some more clearance, either the O-ring stops it from inserting in the tranny or the O-ring slides up the tube. So much for a remove and replace / 1 hour effort!

The advice I'm looking for is what dipsticks have you guys found that install with ease - like they were actually made for a second generation Camaro with a SB350/TH350 (either traditional O-ring seal or boot seal or locking dipstick).

Many thanks,
Jason

What about the vehicle specific tube and stick. You can get an AC Delco from Summit Racing, as well as aftermarket ones-Dorman is another brand. Or chrome tubes from restoration supply places like Rick's Camaro, Camaro Central, etc. When you say universal fit, is it not for your car specifically?

Thanks Camaro_69. The OEM route sounds good, but I do like the boot / locking dipstick options.
All I want to do is buy the same dipstick that someone else has bought and easily installed so I can do the same.

What make did you use, one like the Proform? I haven't used one of those before, so haven't experienced what you have. I don't quite see the purpose of having a locking dipstick, a regular one isn't going to pop out, unless you have venting problems. An OEM stick, or one mad to OEM specs will work. I've used vehicle specific aftermarket ones before with no fitment issues. Or, what about customizing (re-bending) the one you have. You can use a pipe bender like what's used to bend electrical conduit. I have one you can borrow, lol.

I am going to assume that by LOCKING he means the one that has the rubber stopper that swells and locks it in place when the cap is flipped down....

Summit, Jegs etc should be able to set you up with the right one if you look it up by application. Don't go universal, put your car/year etc in the fields and find one that says it fits... Then if it doesn't you can have them replace it with one that does or get your money back.

You could also go with a Lokar one as a possible choice.
