Default selector shaft seal

so i was just wondering if anyone has replaced a selector shaft seal for your transmission on a 1974 z28. th350 tranny. i am just wondering if it is a pain or if it is fairly simple. i have never done this and just want to know what i am getting into before i do it.

its not that hard with the transmission out,it might be hard with it in the car.if i remember right there is a special tool for pulling that seal because it is recessed in there pretty deep

alright. the plan is to try to do this with the tranny still in the car. i would rather spend 3 hours trying to replace it in the car than spend a day pulling the tranny for a 5 min seal swap. thanks
