Default Front coil spring removal

How do you get the front springs out if the sub-frame is already removed? The procedure in my Chilton's book requires the weight of the vehicle to be bearing down.

Thanks

Curt

I don't know of a way to put them in, or get them out without the twin hook compressor if you don't have the engione weight on it.

I bought a brand new $80 compressor and tried the method describe in the link I posted. It didn't work... the compressor actually stripped it's threads trying to compress the coil. Good thing that I had the safety chain on.

Then I tried another method of using a 10k lbs tie-down to wrap around your floor jack and the frame, and jacking up under the LCA. It felt awkward but it worked. I got both springs out and I'm still alive.
