So here it goes, my project thread (2nd gen)
Big ole heading in the corner that says start a new thread.
Val yes there WAS a big dent top and bottom of that muffler opening. I was trying to get the inner piece out of it, where the slip joint is. The guy who did the exhaust crimped the pipe when he tightened it. I tried everything to get it apart. I finally cut it off and will weld a turn down right there. I will be sure to point it so it blows exhaust smoke out during a burn out.
I found that my 2 1/8" pipe cutter fits 2 1/2" no problem so I had plenty of perfectly straight seams. Theres a tip to anyone doing their own. A pipe cutter in that size isnt common but I used to fit pipes at work and I have one.
Yeah I did swap polarity too! I knew about that from long ago when I learned how to weld.

I too have a Rigid. Mine came from a neighbor my inlaws took care of. He was a WWII vet and I would do odd jobs for him just out of respect. He told me when he passed, take my pick of what I wanted. I have a ton of nice stuff and I never forget who gave them to me. I have more stuff than I really need but his family asked me to take alot. I have more adjustable wrenches than I know what to do with. I feel a small connection to the good old days when I use his tools though. I even have his GI issue knife from the war that sits in the shop on the wall never to be F'd with by anyone. I have a strong tie to vets from that era. I will listen to any story they tell. I cant help it.
I will get a porta band someday. One of the last things really I have on my list. I have a chop saw on loan but never used it. The tubing cutter is too smooth. Perfect every time.
