Today was power tour. All I can say was wow! This was the biggest car show I've ever seen. 3500-4000 cars, no kidding. I went with my buddy, one with the Dodge from my earlier posts. We paid 25 bucks to enter the show so we wouldn't have to find a parking spot. Plus we didn't have a long walk to anywhere. I was in awe. I have a mountain of vendor stickers.

I did see a couple cars that were in magazines. As well as that black Spectre earlt 70s Camaro. It was posted in pics on here before, the one with weird roof rails and big flares on all four tires. It was impressive in person. at least 20 other second gens. Two dozen 69 Camaros. After the show there way a impromptu burnout contest on the main drag with people lining both sides cheering us on as we made our way through.

All in all a great day for me and my little city by the lake. I would love to go on the long haul someday.

I are officially wore out. I sanded down the body and shot another coat of primer today. I have been sick ever since Friday making anything hard to do. I resprayed because of massive orange peel and some runs, serves me right drinking and painting at night. I still had trouble today. When cleaning my gun I found out why, the fluid tip that I thought was a 1.5 was really 1.3. I don't even have a 1.5 for the gun, doooh. Well I guess I'll know better next time. No runs though.

I need practice, I am considering farming this out. The last time I blocked a whole car I was in my early 20s. My back hates me today.

Well I couldn't find my camera for a while so no pics. The kids had it and now its barely working. LOL Now I have a bunch.

I got my welder working last night. I love it, very smooth and plenty powerful. I was welding on 1/8" plate because thats what was there. I didn't use it long because it was 4 in the morning and I was having a few too many beers in the garage. So here it is. Literally my first welds with the new welder. Now I realize these are not great welds but I turned the heat up on purpose to see if it would burn through the 1/8". It did about 4/5 power. Here's my second attempt today with a clearer head, still no gloves and not much of an attempt at dialing in. Name: 020-8.jpg

Now for that other toy I own. I have most the body work done on the shell save for the firewall and where the roof and passenger window meet, I mudded it and blocked it down but I still feel some wave. A lot of cars crack right here and mine hasn't, so with the chassis reinforcements I have I hope the body work will last forever here.

This is where there was a slight crease that some one pulled with a stud gun and filled. I blasted it off. What is weird is stud guns were not that common in the early 80s, the last time the car was on the road. Name: 013-13.jpg

The drivers side needed the seam filled for the roof and a couple small dings down the door jamb. The quarter was just a skim to fill the little pits where rust wanted to start.Name: 008-19.jpg

The roof had three dents the size of a quarter and they weren't more than 4" apart. Easy fix. The tiger strip is from where I scuffed the first coat and then was trying to use up the last of the cup on my second coat covering the filler. I didn't make it across the roof all the way.Name: 004-24.jpg

Turn your wire speed down just a bit, and make a circular motion with the tip as you move along, that will help with weld not building up so high and look great.

I was taught circles. I was thinking the speed was high and pushing too hard into the puddle causing those holes at the end. Thanks though. I love this welder and know mastering it is just a matter of time.

I'm doing the firewall this weekend and will do a full step by step.

Well noi much progress yet. I assembled a grinder stand that I cut all the pieces for 6 months ago when I bought the welder. It turned out nice, tall so I don't have to hunch over to use it. Just needs a light and some add ons for water quench and my wheel dressing tool. I also started on my welding cart tonight. I ran out of time though, it was getting late and the neighbors probably don't like hearing the compressor and cut off wheel. 001-28.jpg?t=1309068275

I spent the better part of the day in the yard anyhow. It takes two hours just to mow. Then I got a new weed whacker for fathers day. I had to use that too. It has rain for the last week or so; my grass was out of control.

I'm set for tomorrow. I'll get the welding cart done then go right at smoothing the firewall. I hope to get it done and start on blasting the doors. I'm not holding my breath though.

I got this far on the firewall.I had to splice to peices of metal to fit thhole. The seem won't be noticable after I use filler though.
