I left it in the can with the lid half-ars fitting, and put the can in an air tight plastic food container. The plastic jar is a good idea, but I didn't have any handy at the moment, and was trying to avoid a possible messy re-pour. I'm going to save the next empty jar and use it, if how I have it now gets to be a pita. Would you say the crunchy or smooth jar works better?

Didn't have any problem getting the lid(s) off my cans Chuck. Surprisingly, the can I used last fall that had about 1/3 left in it was perfectly fine, no solid layer on top. The other can however, that's the one I had put a piece of saran wrap between the lid and can. That one had to be punctured a dozen times with a screwdriver and hammer to get at the remaining paint underneath! I'm POR-less now, will have to buy more next time. Would like to do the bottom of my truck sometime when I get the itch to put more miles on the grinder. I'm sure that'll happen soon.

My local paint supplier gave me a hint that has helped a lot! They said to transfer paint to the smallest container you have. The less space for air, the less chance it will skim over or go bad. Even if you have to pour a little out to get it right to the top of your container, it's going to store better. They also said to keep leftover paint inside at room temperature. Too hot or cold is bad, as is too much fluctuation.
If I have very special paint I want to ensure stays good (like leftovers from my car's paint job!) I store them this way, and they do great.

Definitely smooove Chuck. Gettin there Tim, I use the same tricks with poking holes in the rim so it drains back. I know about using plastic wrap but dont. Trying to remember to wipe the rim clean helps too. I read in a home improvement mag where a guy stored his upside down so the solids would stay on top when he flipped them over for use. I tried this and had body filler and epoxy primer all over the top shelf for a year without knowing they were leaking. lol

Well, to keep in line with the norm ever since the beginning of working on this Camaro I forgot to tell you about my luck yesterday. Didn't get any painting done today with the rain which is a bummer to not be able to finish. However yesterday I had just finished with the first coat of black metallic top coat on the core support. I went inside for a few minutes and when I came back out I got to see the beautiful black metallic core support laying on it's side, in the dirt!!!!!!!!! It was sitting on 3/4" plywood which is the same as it was the whole time I did the POR without any problems. All that work and time sanding and wheeling and painting, in the dirt. I should've, but couldn't get myself to take a picture of it. I want to laugh about it but man, I'm bummed. Just hope I can scuff most of it off without messing up the POR.

LOL Funny thing. When I did mine the wind picked up and blew the plastic drop cloth right into mine. So there is a big chunk of the second coat missing. But the bodywork hides it all.

Sorry about the bad luck though!

Yeah, no matter how hard I try to laugh about the core support tipping over, it's just not amusing to me. It's certainly not the end of the world but what a capper to put on days and days and days of cleaning and painting. Here's some before and after pics (last ones, sorry) at least. The sand will NOT come off in several spots and the 2 support rods that criss-cross rolled off the board also and are completely covered in black sand "bumps." The clear is on everything except the last inner fender that I still have to paint the one side the body color. I can finally get back on all the little tasks needed to get this thing fired up by month end. That's been my goal and I'm sticking to it one way or the other.

100% Finished with 'em now, finally! Core support is sitting where it's supposed to be already and now I can start getting everything all buttoned up. Pump to carb plumbing getting done first, then I gotta get that shifter linkage figured out and done. From there it's just making sure all the suspension is torqued properly, fittings greased, driveshaft installed and the exhaust is installed and it's ready to rock!


Oh yeah, forgot about all the wiring.... Now where am I gonna put that darn ignition box!?!?
