Ok im home, i would consider it a success. The engine is rated at 620 flywheel hp. My final number was 437WHP. According to his calculations that works out to 621 flywheel. This dyno is always lower then everyone else in town. I have known that for 10 years since the first time i got my first car on there. It is a mustang Dynometer without correction, that being said, the number he gave me was his conservative number to correct to SAE.

A bone stock Camaro SS will dyno in the low 300s on his dyno.

We only took the car to 6100-6200rpm. I was holding power right until we shut it down. I will try running it a bit harder and see how it goes on the street. He figures i "lost" some midrange hp and tq numbers because i was spinning my wheels on the dyno. I had large chunks of rubber on my trunk by the time it was said and done. Will see if i can upload some stuff right now.

A couple more notes, he figures i will run right around 12 seconds if i cant hook up through first and second and he figures i will be mid to low 11s on a nice cool night with traction. I was hoping for 11.50 so i guess we will see. Please keep in mind we are at 3300ft elevation here so our times are always slower.

Last dyno pull, these are in third gear with the dyno loaded for a 3400lb car. The only thing he cant create is the drag of the wind.

What kind of tuning tweaks did he make to the engine?

Took away jetting in secondaries, added timing, and adjusted accelerator pump

Sounds like it must have been really close to start, with just minor tweaks. Time to go have fun now, but make sure the tank is full!

Maybe it's just me, but a 30% h.p. loss (620>437) through the drivetrain seems like a lot.

This is the reason i like dyno numbers, people think that their car is faster because they took it to some little hub dyno and compare it to a dynojet or a mustang dyno and think they have more power. You cant compare HP numbers from dyno to dyno, let alone dyno numbers country to country, this is a rule i learned 10 years ago when i started building cars. The only thing a dyno is good for is putting the car under load to tune and to give a comparative measurement when doing mods, what the numbers say are irrelevant. I can pull my car on a Dynojet tomorrow and see over 500.

Seems like a big number for loss, but since you're sure this dyno reads low, then I guess it doesn't matter. It would be interesting to choose a car and run it on several brands of dyno, and then compare the readings to see how they vary from each other.
But maybe that's a metric dyno, and reads in metric HP?

Well done mate, I am very happy for you Can's figure out the values what actually are on the street!! My friend has a celica (weight approx 2000lbs), car is rated 400hp (whether HP or WHP don't know). He told me that for his car, 400 hp is a lot!!

The zr1 475 is HP or WHP? Thanks and well done
