Like Summit, Jegs sells lots of name brand stuff under their name. My Comp Eng. ladder bar setup came from Jegs under their name for about 10% less than under Comp's name.

Yes that is what I'm saying. I don't know why its like that. Here is a for instance. AFR PN:1034 is $1564.xx from AFR direct. The same head same PN from Summit Racing is $1517.XX. Not way cheaper but still cheaper.

No progress to report as im back at work in the frigid motherland but i did talk to Unobtainium welding yesterday.

He says that he has an opening right after christmas to do my roll cage and exhaust. He needs the car running in order to make it efficient to get it off and on the hoist for the work. This means that i have some serious work to do when i get home.

I am going to need to call in some favors from a buddy of mine who is a mechanic. I really dont wanna miss the this spot. If i can get it running by christmas and get it into the welder there should be no reason that i cant start driving the car by the time the snow melts in Alberta (which could be well into may)

Anyways thats my new goal. I never made it anywhere near where i wanted to last time i was home but i did get a bunch of stuff done that made me satisfied. Looks like i shoul be home on November 22nd all of the way until the second week in January so i should have lots of time.

Lets hope Unobtainium doesn't use Chineseum for your welds.

I would love to have a buddy like that. The attention to detail is there. I bet your cage blends in like no other. Heck i can't think of any place around me that does work like that.

On a separate note, my other friend got his LS1 fired up in his 83 Iroc. Now all he has to worry about finishing before it drives, is um.... Well pretty much every single component on the entire car. It will be cool when its done.

I think I would pay for his work. i don't have access to that kind of quality without shipping the whole car somewhere. I paid around 675 for my exhaust. If he could build one for a 1000 that looked that nice and clear everything. I would consider it. Now if he was charging NASA money then I don't know.

He is as you put it charging NASA money, he quoted me $2200 for full 3.5" aluminum dual exhaust. Not sure what material im gonna use yet. Also it was aroundd $2000 for the cage.

This was before he was a fulltime shop, hopefully the prices never change too much.
