Thats the same way i modded my spindles. I now have those half done waiting for parts as well as 20 other things. Really though I was going to do something a touch different and a few hundred bucjks cheap too. I keep forgetting to call my guy at the junk yard. He will grab a set of B Body spindles off a caprice for me for $20 plus $10 to cut them out. They bolt on to our cars butlet you use a 12" rotor from a IROC. I have two sets of Hawk hi performance pads for that set up.

Well i got back out to the shop for a bit and actually got one thing accomplished.

I finished modifying the spindle and powder coated it. I am really happy with how the powder coat turned out as there are only a couple spots where it didnt take. One of the spots is an area i am going to buff off for assembly anyways. Seeing it with the powder on it i wish i took more time to clean up the grinding as the imperfections seem to be amplified. Regardless heres a picture hot out of the oven. I waited around to let it cool but i got tired and came home.

Rather then working on other items on the car i spent a couple hours tidying up. This is what it looked like before i started, doesnt look much different now but at least some of the tools are back in my box.

There should be no reason that if i get out there tomorrow i cant assemble the spindle and brake assembly. Its finally getting exciting, ive been waiting months to see the new setup.

Oh yeah last night after i posted i ordered all new steering linkage from Hotchkis, should be here in a couple days. I figured if i was going to order it new anyways i might as well spend a couple extra dollars and get the stuff that matched the rest of my car.

I'm like that too. Stick with one brand and then you can either get sponsored or real good tech support.

Ok well i got out here and got some stuff done on the car.

Ran into a few issues on the front end but finally got the front brakes installed. The longest time period was when i lost the spindle nut, searched for around three hours for it, drove into the city to buy a new one (30 minutes) drove home (30 minutes), got home and realized it was the wrong one. Shortly there after i looked in the parts washer and found my spindle nut.

I just need to borrow a 12 point socket to tighten the calipers and then new lug nuts for the new studs that came with the Wilwood brake kit.

Heres the pictures. Hopefully the car lifts like this when its on the drag strip! Just incase anyone cant tell the car is up in the air, there will not be that much room in my wheel well when its sitting down on the rubber. Ill go buy some new lugs tomorrow and then hopefully start on the passenger side.

Lemme know what you think.

I wish I could afford the Wilwoods. I have to piece it together from other stuff until I get it together and moving. Rest assured when I get the car most of the way done I will go back for things that I missed like purdy brakes. I figure I can spend 5-7g a year on the car so in three years or so I can get those brakes, I want to get 18's too, but thats for the race track. I want a 18x9 on all four corners.

Thanks guys

As for the brakes the Wilwoods are one of the more reasonably priced kits out there. I'm happy with how they went together and can't wait to see how they perform.

I'm probably not gonna work on it for the rest of the weekend but will hit it hard next week and will tackle the passenger side soon.

I had the drag discs on the Nova. They are a nice piece. Those were super light weight though. They weren't much for repeated stops.

I'm excited to see the difference between the the softest setting (drag) and the hardest setting (race course) on these qa1s.

I've never had an adjustable suspension before.
