Thats the plan. After getting the front off though, I wasn't pleased with the urethane cover. Not sure if I want to reuse it or look at maybe a fiberglass one or the flex fiberglass. If I sand it and paint it ,because it has so much flex what do you use for primer that wont crack?

They do make primers and paint especially for urethane, but from what I've heard it's a matter of time until the paint cracks with urethane. May be many years with the small amount of driving most of our toys get.

The nose from my 78 is in the basement without any structural support inside it. So its pretty flimsy. But the paint I put on there over 15yrs ago has not cracked or flaked. I also had a 1/2" thick piece of SPI epoxy that dried in the bottom of the mixing cup. a year later it was still flexible, I put in my vise and bent it in half with Channel Locks.

The stuff on the 78 was just what ever the local supplier sold me back in the day.

Got my block back and after getting it on stand, I masked it off and painted it. Started the build on Thursday, but wont be able to work on it till Monday again.

Got some done. Plastigaged everything and all looked good. Rings checked and put on pistons and installed in block.

Looks really great! Be sure to wipe the bores with an oily rag! That freshly machined metal will flash rust surprisingly fast!

Yep, bores were wiped down before pistons went in. I've been very careful keeping things clean and wiped down.
