Good parts car. I remember you posting it on Nasty. Nice shop. I know what you mean about it getting messy. Mine is a wreck. I have the camaro going, did my buddies truck and repainted a basketball hoop for the kids. I got crap everywhere.

My wife's pretty nice about letting the car stuff go on, but once in awhile the home stuff does get in the way! Or the family stuff, which I never mind getting into first place! We're out of state visiting the kids this week, so not much going on at home!
But the good news is we left the wife's Mazda at home, and took the '69 Suburban this trip!

lol, I'm working on my wife for an older Sub. We've got an '06 I think it is, and I love yours.

Thanks Steve! We feel pretty blessed having found this one so reasonably! It sure was nice on the 275 mile drive! Probably put close to 1,000 miles on it by the end of this trip! Been averaging around 17-18 mpg at 75 mph cruising speed.

Ours hits 19 mpg on the highway, but we have a 4x4. So really not too bad for you.

I've spent a good part of the last two days pulling parts off my 81 and polishing them up for transfer over to the 79. Plus selling whatever I don't need to fund the forward momentum. I still need to take the time to figure out the correct procedure for measuring pushrod length, and seeing what tools I'll need.

I usually line them all up and use a straight edge along the top and bottom to see if any are off in length. I also put two straight edges on their edge and roll the pushrods along the edge to see if they have any bends in them that would require replacement.
Pushrods don't have to be the exact same length on a Chevy since they're adjustable, but I do want to ensure there's no problem that would make one way off from the others. Check the ends for gauling or cracks too.

Since you're using roller rockers, having the proper pushrod length is important. Here's a good write up: Finding Proper Pushrod Length - Circle Track Magazine

Forgot you went to roller rockers. Are they 1.5 or 1.6 ratio?
