Belt drive? A real belt drive, those are sweet. If I had 700 to blow I would get one. As for the poly locks. Hook a brotha up. I will need them soon.

Well, this isn't no $700 belt drive setup, but it still looks nice. I need to see if the valve covers fit with the stud girdle poly locks I'm going to keep them, if not I need to buy new ones. If they do fit, I may also be on the lookout for a stud girdle. I just don't know if the configuration of vortecs is the same as regular heads. Plus, I don't know that the center mount holes will clear a stud girdle.

I'm really hoping to get the engine together and in the car within 3 weeks. This weekend we are going to Turkey Run in Indiana camping, so that is shot for the car, but fun for us.

Thanks, this has been a huge learning curve for me. Without the forums, there is no way I'd be anywhere close to doing anything. Then again, maybe I'd be done already, I've been doing alot of things that "don't need to be done", like sandblasting the bottom and POR15'ing everything. But in reading how everyone else does this stuff, I figured I would too.

Got some good progress done on the engine today. Heads are on, timing cover is on, and the damper is on. I "placed the intake, carb and valve cover on there to get an idea of what the finished product is going to look like. I still need to braze or weld my pickup to my pump and install the oil pan. I REALLY just want to get a new oil pan, I probably will, if they sell a pan/pump/pickup combo I'd just as soon go that route. Oh, and I did also pull the oil pump and put the driveshaft in.

I think I am going to like it.

Thanks, got a few more things to take care of before finishing it. I want to pull the litters and re lube them, then maybe ge a new oil pan and pump. Then probably a new fuel pump. By then my stall should be here and I can put a shift kit in it. Before it goes in I've got to install the solid engine mounts and flip my coils over.

There's a guy here who advertises them on CL for $90 a pair. Std. bolt pattern though.
