You are removing the rear leafs so you should be able to get a more inset rim then i have and stuff a huge tire under there.

Hi guys, just cancelled my deep tubs order!!!! I changed my mind when I was reading an article on the internet. The amount of metal one need to remove and grind off to install the minitub kit is something. I am afraid to do that job..... I have been deciding several times if it is a good idea or not to make deep tubs, but I made up my mind until it was too late. Luckily classic industries had not sent the parts.

Will see how if a 315 will fits the way I wanted......

Hi, are your 315 17 or 18 inch diameter? yesterday I installed a 315 35 17 at the back and it barely touches the hump where there is the seat bolt.

I think I will go for 295 35 18. This will fits with more room.

Many guys beat that hump in with a big hammer to gain a little clearance.

Alot of rears are offset as much as a 1/2" either way. Mine happened to be perfect. Also not all tires are the same with for a given aspect ratio. A 315 Goodyear F1 is over and inch wider then my Nitto N555's. To answer your question, mine are 17's. I would use the 295/18 if you have the ability. I cant get a 295 in a 17. This is the only regret so far on my entire car. But I did get an eastwood fender roller so I may tuck them under yet.

Ok. But first I am going to concentrate on the rear end. I need to calculate by how much I need to narrow the rear end, then order the rear end, connect the ride tech coilovers and adjust the correct ride height, then calculate the rim.

What do you think? is this the correct way?

No! Your saying you want to buy skinnier tires to get them to fit. Then your saying you want to narrow the rear. So if your going with 295's leave it alone. If you go with 315's I would go with a DSE mini tub and with the correct offset you still wont need to narrow it. Mini tub, then measure for wheels or just measure for the bigest you can get in a stock wheel tub.

Hi, sorry for my silence. I was on a holiday with my wife and daughter and did not want to check the posts.

Correct, I will try to fit the 295 to avoid minitubbing the car (the opposite to what I was thinking few weeks ago).

The plan of narrowing the rear axle is just for the appearance of the wheels. I want to use the maximum negative offset as possible. With the standard axle length I will be limited with the offset.

Is there something wrong or something that I need to be carefully not to order a narrowed rear end?

Would like your opinion on this.....
Thanks

You cant measure for the rear end until you have the wheels and tires. Plain and simple. Thats like buying .030" over pistons and then going to the machine shop and hoping it will clean up at 30 tho.

Listen, I'm not sure why you want so much offset. But its not my business either. I have an 11" wheel in back with 5.75" of BS. that makes it about dead center. I have almost 6" of dish. If you when to a 10" wheel with a 295 and want to narrow the rear to get what? 8" of dish. Plan on having wheel bearing issues. In extreme cases I would bet the ring and pinion wear due to the constant side loading they are getting when cornering. Not to mention the studs on the wheels. Thats a lot of leverage. Dragsters do it but their wheel studs are 5/8 inch and the lug nuts are 1" hex.
