You get that welder fired up, and you'll be building all sorts of neat parts! Subframe connectors, G braces, roll cages, traction bars, etc., etc., etc. I know I'm always trying to think of something else I can build with mine!

I want to learn to weld. The problem is I have 3 people who know how to already related to me. And they say I only have 1 good eye left so I don't need to learn how! It will happen though, it is easier to just do something than explain it, and explain why you want to etc. I just need to find a cheap welder someplace.

Do you think thats a good welder for building a rotisserie for my 78 when its time? i was thinking of using two engine stands to start with.

I think it's an excellent welder to build just about anything, but I'd never use engine stands as a base for a rotisserie! They don't have a wide enough footprint to stabilize something as large as a car body and ensure your safety while your working. Now if you plan to cut up engine stands and make wider bases and just use the uprights as pivot points, then that might work if properly built. But then you'd be out an engine stand, and at the cost of stands it's cheaper to build from scratch.

What is wrong with the roll the car onto its side on tires method of working on the bottom? Seems like it doesn't hurt anything... Have you ever seen this?

i was thinking something like this but with big square tubing on the pivots to bolt the body to.
Maybe a bit more sturdy, and i don't know about those wheels

Something along these lines anyway

I dont know about that, looks like to much to be lifting all over the place, i would like to roll it around so that wouldnt be good for me, but to each his own right.

yea dude that would would be a great welder for making a rotissery as long as you get good penetration and are bonded to both pieces and atm welding with a mig is really very simple hell ive only been weldin for six months at my high school and ive already got good enough to go to skills usa and torch (welding competitions) and i do pretty good considering im weldin against dudes that have been weldin since they were like 9 once you learn to weave and were to set your temp and wire speed for different metals it is easy as workin a hot glue gun and by the way if you get an auto darkening helmet it will make it soooo simple like i made a cherry picker and a car trailer and neither one of them have failed yet and im only 18 imagine the possibilties and by the way does that Lincoln have the line for argon if so you should try it with it im tellin you it nakes your weld so much cleaner

Need a lot of room to roll it around on tires, and there's always the possibility it might slip in the makeshift process and bend something. Just doesn't make me feel all warm and fuzzy.
That one pictured looks pretty sturdy, but as you say it needs some longer frame to bolt to firewall and tail. It also needs to be a lot farther apart! Doesn't look like you could get anything much longer than a go kart between those pivot points!
