what to look for
Hello,
I am new to this forum. I came across a 1977 for sale. Has the 305 with auto trans. Sound like it is a 2 owner car and has been garaged for a long time, needs a little work for it to run but looks like the important stuff is all there. I was told there is no rust and the pictures look good. Where would I look to see if there is rust lurking somewhere?
Sure would appreciate any tips where to look.
Thanks

2nd gen doors are very heavy, they tend to sag. This can cause water leaking right along the outer edge of the seats. So the floors just inside the rockers are the most common issue with the floor wells (where your feet go) not far behind. Next is just about anywhere in the rear. The rear frame rails are critical and the frame rail connector just under the rear bumper. Last place I would look is the trunk drops and inside the trunk it self. Keep in mind back in the day the engineers designed these cars to last 5-8 years. My 74 camaro required some metal replacement in 1979.
