What Heads and carb?
I just got my motor put back into my car after having it bored 40 over, cam, intake. while it was about i was trying to figure out what the motor came out of. i found that the heads are 76cc casting # 333882, which don't really seem to be good heads. i was thinking the eldelbrock performers, world products, or some other good factory chevy heads. but i don't know which ones would work better w/ my motor.
I also had my quadrajet rebuilt in november, thinking it would fix the problem of bogging down and acting like its not sending gas to the motor, it use to be so bad that the car wouldn't even spin the tires in water. i was thinking i should just by another carb, but i don't kno if i should get a holley ar a eldelbrock. the engine builder said it should be making just alittle over300 hp. thanks

There is a huge range of head choices out there....Depends on what you want them to do. You didnt mention the engine size or if you are interested in aluminum or iron heads. Personally, I like Edelbrock. Very good, high qualityheads and carbs at reasonable prices. (havent had any problems with my thunder avs carb) If you are just looking to cruise around andoccasionally stomp on a pony,Edelbrock heads should do you well.
GM VORTECS WOULD BE GREAT THEY FLOW SICK NUMBERS IHAVE TWO SETS BRAND NEW ONE SETS PORTED AN POLIISHED ALSO HAVE MATCHINJG AIR GAP INTAKE NEW IN THE BOX MAKE OFFER IF INTERRESTED PROABLY WOULD GET 40 HORSE EASY OVER WHAT YOU GOT AND MORE WITH THE PORTED SETS ALSO HAVE 2 NIC E CUSTEM ROLLER CAMS FOR SALE
what i'm about to suggest is a hugely debatable topic but, if you don't have a fortune to spend on heads ... get a set of 305HO 58cc heads. have them fitted with 1.94 valves, pocket ported and shaved just a smidge. gasket match the intake runners and you will have very high compression, high velocity, high torgue alternative to a thousand dollar set of heads. if your good with a dremmel tool you can polish the runners as deep as you can get and that will help the flow as well. alot of restricted racers do that very thing. me myself i love doing things the unconventional way. LOL. Sick
THATS NOT COST EFFECTIVE BUY HEAD, MAGNAFLUX, NEW VAVLES, MACHINE WORK YOU CULD BUY DARTS FOR STOCK VORTEC WILL SMOKE THOSE HO'S AND FOR ALOT LESS I GOT A BRAND NEW SET FOR $450.OO PLUS NEW IN THE BOX AIR GAP MAKE OFFER
thanks, i thought about about vortec heads but the i would have to get self aligning rockers, and i just bought my intake. are there any other good heads that came off a corvette or camaro maybe.
Some of the best heads on the market are the AFR heads, the Dart iron eagle platinums are good iron heads, the 882 s can be made to flow but they are considered to be an open chamber head to build compression needed for a large cam you would need to run domed pistons. Vortec are one of the most cost effective options and they have an excellent chamber design. I would consider what you have in the engine now before I would put big buck down on heads, why spend money on heads that are capable of 550hp when the engine is only "safe" to 450? Check out Petes sticky on cylinder heads I posted it a while back when I was going through factory heads, the 882 info is bogus though but most of the others seem ok. Check out the world heads compared to the vortec its a bit surprising.......
ya afrs are good there like $1400 check out patriot heads i think there under 1ooo dart pro 1 are good 2 only got 1 tenth when swiched to afr check dart iron eagle if this is a 350 dont go bigger then a 180 runner.
