I believe the resistor is for the tach output.

Would the ignition system for a 79 allready have a resistor built into it. Here is the diagram I am using.(note: my distributor does not have the vacuum advance) I am also using the MSD blaster2 coil.
http://www.malloryperformance.com/pdf/609.pdf

A buddy came by and is going to make a bracket for the Y block I will post pictures when he gets it done because I have never really seen a bracket for one..

I am running braided line from the pump to Y block in a similier manner as it was ran before. It should come up and hook up in between then the tunnel ram runners in the front(middle)if that makes any since.

My 78 had some type of resistor in it. But went I went with a MSD and they specifically said to pull it.

I noticed that there is some sorta resistor that is bolted to the firewall and it is on the tach wire. But the diagram doesn't really show where to hook up the tach.

From the instructions it appears your Mallory requires the ignition ballast resistor, so I would use it. I just was curious since I've never had one in an electronic, and had that issue last week when we tried to start up my buddy's 350 in a '56 Chevy with that similar resistor. The spark was so weak when I cranked the engine and grounded the #1 plug wire that I could barely see it under the garage lights. After removing it we got a normal spark.
I ran through all those plumbing issues too. Trying to get it all sorted out, and eventually I changed a number of things to clean mine up, and make it simpler. I rerouted my fuel filter and lines to get rid of about a foot of extra fuel line. I relocated my pressure regulator also to make the lines run smoother and shorter. I didn't like my Y block set up, so I ended up chopping up an old Holley dual feed line from my Camaro, and used it as a Y block. It was smaller and looked better, so it helped clean up the engine.
I continue to make changes every day as I look at things and figure out little items I can change to make it better.

By the way, did you ever check your carbs to determine which accelerator pumps the carbs had? Make sure they aren't the stock 30cc pumps, or you'll probably have issues with a flat spot or stumble in acceleration with the tunnel ram.

No I have not checked the carbs yet. I guess I will set it up with the resistor as it shows and if I have weak spark then I will remove the resistor.

Found two different 50cc kits. One has alittle bling to it but not sure if it will work...

My thought was to wait and see if I would have to change the power valves and do it all at once if needed. But you seem to think that it will need the larger pumps no matter what??

Looks like either kit will fit, but contact the seller with your carb number and he can confirm it. But first you should figure out if you have the right accelerator pump or not. If you take a close up pic of the pump and post it, it should be obvious and I can tell you if it is a 30cc or 50cc.
